US journalist Luke Somers reportedly freed by Al-Qaida affiliate

YEMEN: US Journalist Luke Somers who was hostage of Al-Qaida affiliate group has been freed, Al Arabiya reported on Saturday.

According to a tweeter massage of Al Arabiya, US journalist Luke Somers who is known to be held by an al-Qaida affiliate group in Yemen, has been freed.

The family of the Journalist sent a video message to al-Qaeda militants in Yemen to “show mercy” and release him.

A man identifying as UK born American hostage Somers, who was abducted in 2013, appeared in a separate video on Wednesday, saying his life was in danger and asking for help.

The US has revealed it tried to rescue him last month.
