SCG honors Phillip Hughes by retiring pitch number 7

SYDNEY: After the tragic death of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes, Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) pitch number 7 has been retired to honor the late cricketer.

On the same pitch, Hughes played his final innings in which he scored unbeaten 63 runs before getting life ending injury.

Australia specially the SCG is still mourning the death of Hughes and no cricket has so far been resumed on the pitch.

However, SCG has retired the pitch in order to honor the young cricketer.

Earlier Cricket Australia has retired the jersey number 64 which Hughes wore in the international cricket for Australia.

Hughes died on 27 November after losing fight for his life in coma for two days. The cricketer got head injury after miss-judging a bounce bowled by Sean Abbott that hit on the back side of his head.
