ISLAMABAD: In the wake of mounting political pressure on the government, it has decided to provide practical relief to the masses.
After relief in petroleum products, the government has made a plan for slashing electricity prices to give further relief to citizens.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given task to slash electricity prices gradually to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
The government sources said it has decided that it would slash electricity prices by 7 to 10 percent.
The government has taken the decision to reduce power prices after reduction in furnace oil prices which went down by 32 percent in last two months.
The government also decided to use LNG for power production. After use of LNG for power production it is likely that the power prices will also decrease in March.
Import of LNG will start from end of January next year.
