ISLAMABAD: A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Friday, seeking the apex court directives to the government to bring back Mir Shakeel-ul-Reham, owner Jang media groups, which also owns private Geo TV network, through Interpol.
A citizen has filed the petition stating that the owner of Pakistan biggest media house has been convicted by an Anti-terrorism Court of Gilgit-
Baltistan.
The petitioner has submitted that Shakeelul Rehman fled to Dubai after conviction by an ATC in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He prayed the court to direct the government to bring back the convict through Interpol .
It is to be mentioned here that an Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit had sentenced Mir Shakil, host of a morning show on Geo TV Shaista Lodhi, actress Veena Malik and his husband Asad Khattak to 26 years behind bars and also imposed a fine of Rs1.3 million on each convict.
