Four polio workers killed in Quetta firing

QUETTA: Four polio workers were killed while two other injured in a firing incident that took place near Quetta’s Eastern Bypass, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to reports, three women and one male polio workers were killed in the firing.

Among theĀ  dead, three were identified as Rubi, Hamida and Ijaz while one body yet to be identified while Salma and Farida were reportedly injured.

Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world where the polio virus is still endemic, but efforts to stamp out the crippling disease have been hit by repeated attacks on health teams.
