KARACHI: Some Rs190 millions were siphoned off by high ups of Sindh Livestock Department under the garb of providing vaccines and fodders to livestock in drought-hit Tharparker district of the province.
Serious drought-like condition in the desert area of the district has hit hard the livestock of the area, which is the main sources of livelihood of the desert inhabitants.
Following the drought, the Provincial Livestock Department released some Rs190 millions for providing vaccines and fodders to livestock of Thar residents. However, the sources said that the amount was released without inviting tender with the approval of Provincial Minister for Livestock Jam Khan Shoro.
The sources said that the Secretary Livestock got the amount released without tender in connivance with the local officials in Tharparker, arguing that provision of vaccines and fodder to livestock was necessary on immediate basis.
However, large portion of the amount the amount was siphoned off instead of using on provision of vaccines and fodders.
