CAIRO: As many as 10 people were killed when a block of building collapsed in Cairo, officials said on Tuesday.
According to reports, seven people were also injured when an eight-storey building in the western suburb of Matariya collapsed.
Emergency services head Gen Abdul Qader said workers were searching for 15 people who were believed to be trapped.
Qader told the AFP news agency: “We don’t yet know the cause of the accident, but we have been told that two storeys were recently added totally illegally.”
