ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has refused to give more time to government for the appoint Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Monday.
According to reports, SC court has adjourned next hearing of CEC case till December 1st while Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will remain CEC until court orders.
Notices will be issued to Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah if they failed to appoint CEC till December 1st, SC said.
Attorney general asked SC for more time till the return of opposition leader Khursheed Shah who was out of country.
Earlier, SC had given 11 more days to appoint Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) against the government’s request for one more month.
The SC bench headed by Chief Justice Nasir Ul Mulk heard the government petition regarding extension of deadline for appointing CEC after the end of the earlier deadline.
