Ramiz Raja’s criticism of banned players angers Muhammad Asif

LAHORE: Pakistan former skipper Ramiz Raja’s criticism of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for making efforts for Muhammad Amir’s return has angered Muhammad Asif, who advised Ramiz not to criticise the banned trio (himself, Salman Butt and Amir).

The banned players are hopeful of reviving their international careers after serving their respective bans from the ICC for their involvement in the spot-fixing scandal during 2010.

In a media talk, Asif said that Ramiz had shown soft corner for West Indies player Marlon Sameuls over his involvement in match-fixing, but he was not ready to show the same sentiments for the Pakistan players which was surprising.

Ramiz Raja in his a recent article  has raised objections to fast-tracking the resumption of Amir’s career under the new ICC rules.

The PCB has sent a letter to the ICC to seek permission for Amir to allow him to play domestic cricket as his five-year ban still have almost a year to go before it ends in Sept 2015.
