India’s aggression affected Pakistan’s ongoing campaign against militants: General Raheel Sharif

LONDON: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has reportedly said that the India recent aggression at Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and Working Boundary is negatively impacting Pakistan’s ongoing campaign against the Taliban and al-Qaeda militants along Pak-Afghan border areas, BBC Urdu said in a report published on its website.

The report said that during the ongoing visit to US, Genetal Raheel had told US officials that India’s move along the border and LoC and the kind of statements coming from India leadership were making it difficult for Pakistan Army to effectively fight the militants out in PAk-Afghan border areas.

The reported quoted an unmanned US official that General Raheel told the US administration officials that Pakistan had deployed over 150000 troops on it western border along with Afghanistan, on the assurance that its Eastern border with India would remain peaceful, but did not happen.”

It is to be mentioned here that relations between the two arch rivals neighbors plunged to the lowest ebb, amid the recent worst firing and shelling at LoC and Working Boundary in recent years that killed more than 20 civilians and prompted thousands other to flee to safer places.
