ISLAMABAD: Reconstruction of installations damaged during the ongoing military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, against militants in North Waziristan Agency would take some two years to complete at an estimated cost of Rs75 billion.
This was stated by Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Maj. Gen Mohammad Saeed Aleem.
According to a BBC Urdu website report, the reconstruction of the militancy-hit trial areas would be carried out in different phases.
“In the first phase, the urban areas would be made hospitable by constructing houses and markets and the repair of roads, schools and hospitals. Large-scale reconstruction of the region would take place in the second phase,” he was quoted as saying in the report.
Gen Saeed added that the first phase would take six months while the complete reconstruction would complete in two years.
