Imran claims govt had already agreed to have ISI, MI role in rigging probe

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Wednesday accused the government of backtracking on negotiation to resolve the ongoing stalemate, adding that the government had earlier agreed during negotiation with PTI to constitute a special investigation team, which will also include Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officials to probe election rigging.

Talking to journalists outside his Banigala residence, Imran said that the ongoing sit-in would continue till complete audit of vote frauds in last general elections.

When asked about his demand to form judicial commission having ISI and MI officials, which came under harsh criticism not only from PTI critics but also civil society and legal fraternity, Imran clarified that the demand to have a investigation team with ISI, MI and other intelligence agencies officials had already been accepted by the PML-N during negotiations with PTI.

He asserted that the demand was not illegal or unconstitutional, arguing that under Article 190 every institution including investigation agencies such as ISI and MI, IB were bound to assist the Judicial Commission in investigation of any matter.

He alleged that Nawaz Sharif told lie in Parliament while Ishaq Dar did the same in his press conference, claiming that PTI had written evidence to prove that the government had agreed to have MI and ISI role in rigging probe.

When asked why he took a U-turn on Prime Minister  Nawaz resignation, he said that he did not take a U-turn rather PTI would continue with it sit-in till complete probe into the alleged rigging in 2013 general elections.

To a question about Nawaz advice to him to take of new Pakistan after making a new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that he saw early elections where PTI would grab more seats from KP, which would prove who made new KP and new Punjab.
