Footballer gets 50-year ban for kicking ball on referee

PORTUGAL: A Switzerland-based amateur footballer Ricardo Ferreira has been banned for 50 years after kicking a ball in the refereeā€™s face and spraying water on him.

Ferreira plays for Portugal Football Club. It is not the first time that he has been banned. He has previously been banned for a total of 45 matches for attacking opposite teams’ players.

Ferreira, 28, said he thought that the referee would ban “me for one or two years but 50 years? Football was my life.”

According to the ban, Ferreira cannot play football before June 5, 2064, when he will be 78.
