SHIEKHUPURA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Hassan Riyaz in the by-election on Punjab assembly PP 162 has won the election, according to the unofficial results.
The PML-N candidate got 39,450 votes and declared successful.
Usman Nisar, an independent candidate was runner up by taking 21, 393 votes. He was backed by PPP, PML-Q.
The Punjab assembly seat had fallen vacant on death of PML-N legislator Muhammd Khurram Gulfam in month of July this year.
There were 137,000 registered voters on the seats and 176 polling stations were established in the constituency for casting of votes by the Election Commission.
