KARACHI: Muttahida Qumi Movement has been considering over the option to change opposition leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah.
The MQM sources said that they would not support Khursheed Shah as Opposition Leader in the NA anymore.
The MQM can nominate its own opposition leader in NA as well, the MQM sources added.
The PPP has a numerical strength of 42 members on the opposition benches, the PTI 31, the MQM 23, the Jamaat-e-Islami four and Awami Muslim League of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed only one in the National Assembly.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan People’s Party senior leader and leader of Opposition in NA Khursheed had said that word “Mohajir” is slang word and stressed that the word should not be used as it meant that people have to go back to their original areas. The Opposition leader’s statement sparked MQM.
The PPP leader had apologized over his statement.
On October 18 the PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto also criticized MQM over its last 20 years politics and on Sunday the MQM announced to part ways with the PPP government.
