MULTAN: Aamir Dogar, who had won the bye-election on NA-149 with the active support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and had announced a day earlier that he would join the PTI after winning the elections, took a U-turn a day after the election on Saturday, saying that he had won the election as independent candidate and will sit as independent MNA in the National Assembly.
According to report, he refused to join PTI as per his announcement before the elections saying that he had won the election as independent candidate and would serve the masses as MNA in that capacity rather joining any party including PTI.
It is to be mentioned here that PTI Vice-Chairman practically acted as campaign in-charge of Dogar during the election and after his victory, he described it as the victory of PTI, boasting that Multan had set the trend of ‘change’.
He boasted after the by-election results that Multanites have turned ‘Here’ (Dogar’s electoral symbol) into ‘Bat’ (PTI’s electoral symbol). However, PTI leaders celebrations over the by-election victory proved short-lived when just a day after the election Dogar took a U-turn and refused to join PTI.
