Microsoft debuts Windows 10 instead of Windows 9

SAN FRANCISCO: Software giant Microsoft finally unveiled the new operating system, Windows 10 here at press event in San-Francisco on Tuesday.

The company rumored to launch Windows 9 but company jumped straight to Windows 8 after Windows 8.1.

VP of operating systems, Terry Myerson, revealed the new operating system and he was also the one behind reveling that the company insisted on skipping over Windows 9 when transitioning from 2012’s Windows 8.

Windows 10 will run on the broadest amount of devices. A tailored experience for each device,” Myerson said. “There will be one way to write a universal application, one store, one way for apps to be discovered purchased and updated across all of these devices.”

Windows 10 have the elements Windows 8 and functionality of Windows 7.

Users will find UI approaches that use the same mouse and keyboard experience evolving from Windows 7 so the touch users get something natural.

“Windows 8 was focused on big screens and touch but couldn’t be successful with that but this time we got it right with Windows 10”, Joe Belfiore said.

“We are not giving up on touch”, he said and added that As for Windows Phone, it will follow in the steps of Windows 10, including its naming scheme, but not borrow the same back-to-basics design philosophy. “It will not have a desktop,”.

Myerson and Belfiore are confident that the jump from Windows 8 to Windows 10 will not cause confusion, and that customers will respect its symbolic value.

The new Windows will not be available till next year.
