PM Nawaz rejects PTI’s rigging allegations

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rigging allegations on PML-N and general elections of May 2013.

In his addressed to parliament the premier reiterated government stance that no planned rigging took place in last general elections.

He said that protesters would not be allowed to derail democracy adding that joint session of the parliament has strengthened the country’s democracy.

The PM showed his astonishment over intensity of protesters as he thought that it started just in six month.

The PM said founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhmmad Ali Jinnah had not adopted such protest even against the British aggressors.

Nawaz Sharif said that the protesters have caused irreparable loss to the economy of the country.

He said that PIT got only 27 seats from overall 272 electoral constituencies in last general elections adding that PTI’s 55 candidates bail had been seized in May 2013 elections.

He said that the government has shown restrained and tolerance against the protesters as protesters included women and children adding that the government will continue its tolerance against the protesters.

The premier said that leaders of the protesters were using women and children as shield against the government.

 Nawaz paid tribute to parliament, MNA’s, senators, political parties and media over show of support to the government.

Earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar presented a resolution regarding strengthening of the democracy which were approved unanimously.
