ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Saturday conducted a press meeting to answer allegations on his personality despite Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) pressure to avoid it.
He demanded that Aitzaz Ahsan’s speech in Parliament House be considered as First Investigation Report (FIR).
Chaudhry Nisar rejected allegations against him and demanded investigation by a tribunal comprising senior judges headed by Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed.
Nisar rubbished all allegations levelled on him by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Aitzaz Ahsan during the joint parliament session yesterday.
He challenged, ‘The allegations are 100% baseless as I am ready to present my record and other side should also present their record.’
‘I have forgiven everything that happened in the parliament session yesterday,’ Nisar told reporters.
‘I offered Prime Minister Nawaz to submit my resignation and let me conduct press conference as a Member of National Assembly (MNA),’ Nisar claimed.
Nisar admitted there had been pressure from PML-N leadership not to answer Aitzaz Ahsan’s speech in order to avoid more debate on the issue.
‘Personal attacks were carried out on me in Parliament House and answering them is my democratic right,’ Nisar said.
He said, ‘Everyone is forgiven as I always prefer national interests over my own benefit.’
The interior minister added that he has served only one political party in 40 years and past 30 hours were very difficult for him.
He said that his brother also faced personal attack even though he was not in politics and that he had gained more respect by serving Pakistan’s military.
Chaudhry Nisar said he will wait for the reply of his answer. He left the press meeting immediately after delivering his speech without answering reporters.
