100 killed in rain-related incidents in Punjab, Azad Kashmir, KP

LAHORE\MUZZAFARABAD: As many as 100 people have died due to destructive rains in throughout Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), media reported.

According to the reports around 57 people have lost their lives and dozens of injured due to continued rains in the province since Thursday, all the deaths reported in rain related accidents.

After heavy rains high flood reported in river the Satlaj and the Chanab causing 100 acres of land have come under water. While nearby villages have been evacuated.

The Punjab District Management has imposed emergency in all the district and cancelled leaves of concerned department employees.

The stormy rains have also claimed 15 lives in Azad Kashmir and 35 also injured.

High flood has been reported in the Neelum river, Jehlum river and the punch river  in  Muzaffarabad, While emergency has been imposed in areas in the limits of rivers and towns have been evacuated.

Muzaffarabad ground link to other cities has been disconnected.

Furthermore, high flood also reported in Sialkot over the river Chanab, while executive engineer irrigation has told that India has released 8 lac cu-sec water at Akhnoor.

Rawalpindi also badly effected by the heavy rains and District Coordination Officer Sajjid Zaffar Dal has informed that emergency has been imposed in the city and Tripple One Brigade of the Army have been aiding rescue services.
