LAHORE: Unannounced load shedding ended in the country as the government has paid Rs20 billion dues to power generation companies, sources said.
According to the sources, the government has paid Rs20 billion arrears to power generation companies three to four days ago, which has reduced load shedding period to three to four hours in both urban and rural areas.
The urban areas had been facing 10 to 12 hours load shedding, while in rural areas the load shedding hours had ranged from 18 to 20 hours, which included unannounced load shedding.
Electricity load shedding was limited to six hours in Lahore and 12 to 14 hours in rural areas yesterday.
