PTI, PAT blocking dialogue by insisting on PM’s resigning, say Dar and Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar and Ahsan Iqbal have said that understanding has been developed with PAT and PTI on their substantive issues but they are blocking the dialogue process by insisting on resignation of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab.

They were talking to newsmen after dialogue with PAT team in Islamabadon Friday.
Ishaq Dar said during talks the PAT team was conveyed that FIR in Model Town incident has been lodged as per application of their counsel. He said the other side wanted investigation of the incident by a Joint Investigation Team and the Government has no objection to it.
He said PAT also demands setting up of a three member judicial commission to probe Model Town incident. Ishaq Dar said he and other members of the Government team are agreeable to the proposal but it would be conveyed to the leadership. About reform agenda of PAT, he said it is a long term plan and mechanics of its implementation can be discussed.
He said the PAT team has been told that as per resolution of all parties and parliamentary forces, the Prime Minister would not resign.  However, the Prime Minister and the Government can resign if allegations of massive rigging in elections are proved and PML (N) is held responsible or it.
Similarly, he said, based upon the investigations and findings of the judicial commission in Model Town tragedy, the responsible people can resign.
