HAMBANTOTA: Pakistan young left-hander Fawad Alam and right-hander Sohaib Maqsood have made a new world record to set the highest 147 runs partnership for sixth wicket in first ODI against Sri Lanka.
The first match was played between the Pakistan and host Sri Lanka at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota. Green shirts, however, won the match by four wickets with help of brilliant partnership between Alam and Maqsood.
It was such a highest runs partnership for the sixth wicket. In which the Maqsood contributed his 79 runs and the Alam played a vital hand of 57 runs.
Alam knocked his sixth half-century in his ODI career while the Maqsood made his fourth half-century in his 15th international appearance.
Alam lost his wicket after scoring 62 runs facing Lasith Malinga while the Maqsood was not out on 89 runs.
Maqsood got a ‘man of the match’ award for his brilliant match winning performance in the first ODI.
