Govt complicated situation by calling in Army: Gillani

LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani on Friday criticized the federal government for complicating the prevailing tense political situation by invoking Article 245 of the constitution for calling in Army in the federal capital.

Talking to journalists,  the former prime minister, who is also a senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), said that the PPP government led by him had not called in the Army during the 2009’s lawyers long march and handled the situation politically.

When asked about the future of the government, he said that the government would go home due to its blunders not due to the long march.

Supporting PTI’s right to protest, he however said that march or any other protest should be peaceful.
