Bayern Munich: Germany’s star footballer and skipper Philipp lahm on Friday has retired from international football.
The successful skipper played a vital role in the victorious campaign in the world 2014, lifting the trophy for the fourth time for the country.
Lahm, the 30 year old footballer will continue to be in action with his club Bayern Munich till 2018 shortly before the world cup.
In his 113 appearances he scored 5 goals for the country.
Lahm is considered one of the best full backs of his generation, and was included in the World Cup team of the tournament in 2006 and 2010, the UEFA Team of the Tournament in 2008 and 2012 and in the UEFA Team of the Year 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2013.
“It is the right time for me. I have totally enjoyed my time with the national team,” Lahm was quoted as saying on Sky Sport Deutschland’s Twitter feed on Friday.
