Pakistan PM convinces dissenting Chaudry Nisar during Raiwind meeting

LAHORE:  Ruling political party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)’s leadership has finally convinced the dissident Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar after an important meeting held between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

An important meeting of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was held at Raiwind in Lahore on Saturday (today) in presence of Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Speaking to Chaudhry Nisar, the premier alluded to the interior minister’s reservations and said that the latter gets easily upset. To this, the minister responded by saying “we are only upset with those close to us”.

Sources said that Chaudhry Nisar complained that the prime minister had not taken him into confidence over crucial decisions. Upon this, the premier said that the minister should let go of his grievances and return to work.

The conversation took a lighter tone when both exchanged smiles over the prime minister’s reference to his telephone calls that Nisar Ali Khan had apparently not been taking.

During the meeting, the country’s political situation and matters of mutual interest were discussed.

Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif had brought the interior minister to Lahore for a meeting with the premier.

Prime Minister had chaired a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership on Friday which was skipped by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan over some misunderstandings.

Reports of a rift in the PML-N have been circulating in the media according to which differences have developed between the party leadership and Nisar.

Party sources claimed that besides being unhappy over the government’s handling of the case of Pervez Musharraf, the minister was also jittery over non-allocation of funds for the internal security policy in the federal budge

Nisar Ali Khan has been missing from the political scene after developing differences with the PML-N leadership over issues related to the unwanted interference in his ministry.

Shahbaz Sharif had met Nisar twice in Islamabad but failed to remove the reservations of the estranged interior minister.

According to sources, Prime Minister assured Chaudhry Nisar to remove his reservations.
