LAHORE: Menace of load shedding is likely to surround the locals across Pakistan this summer as the electricity shortfall is now crossing limits of 3,000 megawatts.
According to National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), the urban areas of the country are facing 6-8 hours of load shedding while its duration for the rural areas has hit 10-12 hours.
The total power generation of the country currently stands at 14,700 MW against the demand of 17,700, leading to a shortfall of 3,000 MW.
The private power houses are presently contributing 7,150 MW electricity to the national grid while the thermal sources are producing 1920 MW and hydel 5,630 MW of power.
