Curfew continues in Sopore town of Indian Ocuupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The curfew imposed after the killing of a youth Arshad Ahmad Shah in Indian armed forces indiscriminate firing on protesters remained continued on second consecutive day in Indian occupied Khmer’s town Sopore.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sopore Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that the authorities don’t want to take any chances. “Although the situation is peaceful and under control, but as a precautionary measure, we have decided not to lift the curfew today,” he said.

Authorities had clamped curfew in Sopore on Monday afternoon after killing of a civilian in firing by government forces.

Witnesses said that huge deployment of was made in the town with the concertina wires and barricades placed at various points. Reports informed that the roads were blocked as few were allowed to move without being thoroughly being frisked.

On the other hand, Indian paramilitary forces and police personnel abused and thrashed an APHC leader, Ghulam Nabi Zaki in Sopore when he was on way to express condolence with the victim family members of Irshad Ahmad Shah, who was killed by Indian forces on 23 June at Krankshan colony.

Meanwhile, the office of senior revenue official was destroyed in a powerful explosion at BG Dhargalol in Mendhar in Poonch.
