Operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ requires national unity: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Under the supervision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) met on Thursday to discuss the ongoing military operation ‘Zarb-i-Azb’ and the Lahore Model Town episode.

The prime minister said that operation ‘Zarb-i-Azb’ requires national unity and added, “A peaceful environment in the country would benefit the soldiers fighting in the North Waziristan tribal area.”

He expressed confidence that militants would lose this war and added that the internally displaced persons from North Waziristan would be provided with every facility in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Prime Minister vowed to defeat terrorists at all costs. He said federal government will provide every possible assistance to look after the IDPs.

He said Pakistan is fighting a decisive war against terrorists and the jawans engaged in this war will be extended full support. He said that the whole nation is at the back of the armed forces in the NWA operation and nation will win this war.

Shahbaz vows to bring perpetrators of Model Town incident to justice

Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif apprised the prime minister about Model Town incident. The chief minister instructed the attendees not to compromise on justice. Chief Minister said that the responsible of the Model Town incident would be brought to justice at every cost and no leniency would be shown regarding the matter.

The PML-N leadership collectively condemned the episode that resulted in the death of PAT supporters. Some of the ministers present in meeting showed annoyance over the police action in Model Town.

Chief Minister Shahbaz said the provincial government would investigate the incident and those responsible for it would be brought to justice. He said that the provincial government will take action against the responsible after receiving the report of the judicial commission.

The meeting was attended by Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif Senator Ishaq Dar, Senator Parvez Rashid, Abdul Qadir Baloch, Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal and others. The representatives of intelligence agencies also attended the meeting and briefed the participants about the internal security situation of the country.
