ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said militants didn’t attack Jinnah International Airport on Sunday, in fact they attacked an area, which was 2km away from airport.
While briefing National Assembly about the investigation of Karachi airport attack conducted on late Sunday night, Nisar said terrorists wanted to damage airplanes and kidnap passengers.
He said terrorists were divided into two groups and entered the premises through different gates of old terminal.
Our efficient security forces captured all terrorist within fifteen minutes, said Nisar.
Interior Minister informed that after fighting for almost two hours, security forces killed ten militants. The attackers had latest weapons and also a rocket launcher.
Nisar said that we are investigating the incident from every possible angle. The attackers did not look local and we will conduct DNA test and bio metric for their identification.
Heavily armed militants launched an assault on Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on late Sunday night, leaving at least 37 dead including 10 militants in a six-hour siege that the army quelled.
