ISLAMABAD: On the first day of new parliamentary year, Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain will address the joint session of parliament here on Monday (today).
It will be his first address in the parliament while opposition parties Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf may boycott the session.
Hussain will highlight the first year performance of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government and the challenges faced by the country.
President will also provide guidelines to the government regarding future policies. He will also make sure to represent himself as just the president of Pakistan, disassociating himself from any political party.
According to Pakistan’s constitution article 56, President has to address the joint session of Parliament before the beginning of a new parliamentary year.
Prime Minister, federal ministers, parliament members, chief ministers, heads of all three armed forces and other high profile leaders will attend the joint parliamentary session.
