LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) chief Arshad Rafiq has been removed from his post over ‘corruption-based decision’ of worst loadshedding in Lahore.
Pakistani authorities commenced large-scale action against appointed officers in power sector who are involved in corruption.
Significant development was seen today after PM Nawaz Sharif’s notice over the issue of hours long load shedding in the provincial capital Lahore, LESCO chief has been ousted from his post while operational director Mehboob Ali was arrested.
The decision was taken after ‘illegal power shut down’ for 10-hour across various parts of Lahore on May 27 in order to provide illegal favour to textile mills’ owners.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) started investigation over the matter; initially stated that loadshedding schedule was not followed on May 27 while LESCO, NTDC and NTCC records are conflicting each other.
