QUETTA: At least eight levies personnel were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire at a check post in Khudzar on Sunday.
According to levies sources, terrorists, armed with latest weapons, suddenly attacked a check post at Quetta-Karachi highway near Wadh area of Khudzar.
As levies soldiers were not expecting an attack, they could not handle the situation and six men were killed on the spot while three were severely injured.
Three injured levies personnel were shifted to a hospital in Khudzar where two soldiers succumbed to their injuries while one is still in serious conditions.
Balochistan Interior Secretary Akbar Durrani has confirmed the death of eight levies personnel.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area and started operation to arrest the attackers.
