ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties staged a walk out from Pakistan’s National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday when the house gave a 120 day extension to the controversial Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO).
A House dominated by ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) saw federal minister Zahid Hamid presenting the extension resolution claiming that the law is not violating basic human rights adding that the government would not be passing any law unconstitutionally.
Zahid Hamid informed the house that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has ordered to do legislation keeping all parties in confidence that is why the PPO is sent to the standing committee of the parliament after necessary amendments.
Upon this, opposition leader in NA, Syed Khursheed Shah protested and announced a walkout. After the announcement, opposition parties along with the government ally Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam  Fazl (JUI-F) members walked out of parliament.
While the government benches kept the tradition of passing the bill in opposition’s absence.
It must be noted that all opposition parties are opposing PPO, labeling the bill against basic human rights.
