PESHAWAR: A leader of Awami National Party (ANP) has been shot dead by unidentified men here on Tuesday, media reported.
According to police sources, former union councilor Anwar-ul-Haq was is his shop when unidentified men opened fire at him. He died on the spot.
Anwar was the secretary of district organizing committee of ANP’s Peshawar zone.
Following his death, ANP party workers recorded a protest on Peshawar’s GT road and closed it for all kinds of traffic.
Protestors were holding black flags and chanted anti-provincial government slogans.
They demanded immediate arrest of Anwer’s murderers.
ANP chairman Asfand Yar Wali issued a statement and condemned the death of his party worker.
He also asked the government to ensure the security of people of Pakistan.
