ISLAMABAD: It might have looked like that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has finally given a positive nod to Warid for 4G LTE but that is not the case yet.
PTA has asked the telecom operator to submit a new application as certain changes are required in its licence if Warid wishes to launch 4G LTE in Pakistan.
However Warid had bought a spectrum that would enable it to launch 4G LTE from PTA.
According to PTA source, the company has reviewed Warid’s earlier application and found it below average and that’s why PTA has asked Warid to submit new application.
The 4G LTE seeker has not properly revealed all the technical details and plans.
The source said, “Warid will have to send in a proper request and provide their detailed information and technical plan.”
And added, “Specific information about the version of LTE to be deployed should also be provided to PTA as all the releases of LTE do not satisfy the requirements of the IMT–Advanced (4G) Standards.”
According to earlier reports, PTA had said no to Warid for 4G LTE in the interest of other cellular service providers who took part in PTA’s 3G and 4G auction.
But things have settled down between PTA and Warid as the telecom operator has launched its first 4G LTE poster and also PTA is serious in viewing the application.
Zong has highest concerns with PTA-Warid understanding as for now Zong is the only owner of 4G in Pakistan but if Warid’s plan got a yes then Warid will beat Zong in 4G race in Pakistan.
