LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has won special empowerment from the country’s premier Nawaz Sharif as a summary demanding reconstitution of railways’ board has been approved by Pakistan PM on Friday (today).
Reconstitution in the country’s largest transportation department, Pakistan Railways, had been recommended by the railway authorities including federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.
PM Nawaz Sharif approved the summary sent by the federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique. The summary recommended removal of additional officers becoming financial burden on Pakistan Railways.
According to reports, two directors will provide assistance to chairman of railway department while one manager will be appointed to look after operational and administration matters.
After implementation of new policies, Pakistan Railways would be authorised to remove higher officer on non-functional seats and able to dissolve all additional posts.
Railways’ minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the board’s restructuring process would help to lessen additional expenditures in the railway sector.
