LAHORE: Jamat e Islami (JI) chief Siraj ul Haq vowed today to support democracy in Pakistan at all costs and not to support any dictatorial rule.
The newly elected JI chief expressed his resolve not to let the country derail from the track of democracy.
In a statement issued from Mansoora, Lahore, Siraj ul Haq said that it is necessary for the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif and the Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif to be on the same page, for the success of peace talks.
He added that his party is striving for a change in the country through peaceful constitutional and democratic means and it is not our course of action to turn over the circumstances by means of secretive, underground and armed struggle.
The JI chief stressed that all the institutions of the country should act remaining within its constitutional boundaries.
