ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday has appointed Mukhtar Ahmed as Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), after Islamabad High court set second 15 days deadline to fill the post yesterday.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, currently the incumbent HEC Executive Director.
Two months ago IHC given the deadline to appoint a permanent HEC chairman but government failed to fill post despite courts order.
The government had given the acting charge to University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar (UET) Vice Chancellor Imtiaz Hussain Gilani on November 12, 2013 after former HEC chief Javaid Laghari’s term had expired on August 26, 2013.
Acting HEC chairman tenure ended on February 12, 2014.
Now, government taking second deadline of IHC seriously, filled Chairman HEC post.
