PESHAWAR: The presence of Afghan Polio virus in Pakistan for the first time in the history has been revealed on Sunday
Its presence has been disclosed by Khyber PakhtunKhwa’s Health Minister Shahram Khan while talking to a local news channel, he said that World Health Organization (WHO) has disclosed the presence of Afghan Polio Virus in sewerage water of Peshawar.
“ WHO organization took water sample from two union council of Peshawar , ‘Larma’ and ‘Shaheen’, on February 26 and declared presence of Afghan Polio virus in the sample”, briefed Health Minister.
According to WHO the polio virus present in the water sample of Union Council ‘Larma’ belonged to Kantar while that of Shaheen belonged to Khyber Agency’s district Bara.
Shahram Khan demanded the Afghanistan and Pakistan’s federal government to take some serious and immediate measures to restrict the spread of polio virus in Peshawar.
