ISLAMABAD: Banned militant outfit, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) website (www.umarmedia.com) has been blocked or removed after 24 hours of its launching which contains militants’ video, magazine and leadership interviews.
According to TTP’s information and publication wing, the website was sponsored by the ‘media wing’ of the organisation while further investigation uncovered that the website was being hosted by a company from Punjab but however, the name of firm has not yet disclosed.
On the other hand, the owner of the company told Dawn News he had no idea who the client was. “The domain was registered in November 2013, and until yesterday, we had no idea as to what the content on the website would be.”
“The order for the domain and the website were placed through an address from Karachi, and the client always used proxy servers to access the online administrative panel,” he said. “The address was apparently fake.”
It should be mentioned the launching of the militants’ website was made amid ongoing peace negotiations between Pakistan’s government and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
