Seoul: LG’s flagship flexible device LG G Flex finally treated with new Android flavor Android 4.4 KitKat in South Korea.
The curvy smartphone comes with a neat design, high-end specs and features and some great functionality, and now it’s ready to get a taste of the latest Android flavor.
The chocolaty treat is only rolling out in South Korea for now, but it shouldn’t take too to reach other markets. In addition to all of the tasty treats Android KitKat has to offer, the LG G Flex will also get some neat changes to LG’s own interface.
Knock Code is among the most notable new additions. First introduced with the LG G Pro 2, the new Knock Code comes as a security feature that allows users to unlock their device in a more secure and convenient manner.
Users can choose from a slew of possible combinations and pre-define certain points on the smartphone’s screen, then tap on them to unlock the device.
The new software update also comes with enhanced Bluetooth Car-Kit features, which will enable the smartphone to show notifications for messages and album art when music is playing. The upgrade was also rumored to bring 4K video capture capabilities to the LG G Flex, but that is not the case.
The LG G Flex sports a large 6-inch curved display with HD resolution and packs a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front shooter, and a large 3,500 mAh battery. The handset launched with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board.
In terms of features, one of the most notable perks of the LG G Flex is its self-healing back plate, which allows the smartphone to automatically recover from small scuffs and scratches that normally occur with daily use.
LG has only announced the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the LG G Flex in South Korea for now, but the company should start rolling out the update in other parts of the world soon.
