MIRPUR: India recorded their second successive win defeating West Indies by seven wickets in Group-2 match of the Super Ten Series in the fifth World Twenty20 here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
It was a clinical performance by the Indian team after skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni opted to bowl first. The spinners first restricted West Indies to 129 for seven in 20 overs and then Rohit Sharma struck an unbeaten 62 and Virat Kohli 54 as India achieved the target of 130, losing three wickets and with two balls to spare.
West Indian batsman Chris Gayle and Lendl Simmons were the main scorers with 34 and 27, respectively.
Indian Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the most successful bowler who captured three wickets, followed by leg-break bowler Amit Mishra taking two wickets for just 18 runs to earn the Man-of-the-Match award.
