ISLAMABAD: The UN special investigator on counter-terrorism Ben Emmerson has said that US has ‘significantly de-escalated’ drone attacks in Pakistan in order to avoid civilian casualties, media reported.
Emmerson said no civilian life was claimed in 2013 due to drone strikes in FATA, Pakistan.
The number of drone strikes was 128 in 2010 and in 2013, it was only limited 27, according to a UN special reporter. But the use of drone has been intensified in Afghanistan and Yemen.
US military took the decision to de-escalate drone technology after they were heavily criticized by various social circles in Pakistan.
Humanitarian groups all over the world are not very huge fan of drones and US military is mostly criticized for using this technology.
