ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has formally approved to file reference against the ex-Inspector General (IG) Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Malik Naveed.
This approval has been given in a meeting of executive board held under the chairmanship of Nab Chief Qamar Zaman Chaudhry in Islamabad here on Wednesday (today).
It is worth mentioning here that the NAB had rejected Malik Naveed’s earlier application for plea bargain under which he agreed to pay Rs40 million. But later he said to have agreed to return Rs80 million to NAB in return for his acquittal in the case.
The NAB inquiry had earlier revealed that a number of KPK police officers and officials were allegedly involved in massive corruption of Rs1.8 billion and irregularities in the 2008-09 procurement by violating government rules and thus causing huge loss to the exchequer.
