Islamabad: At least 11 people have been killed while 20 others injured in two suicide attacks and a firing incident in Kachehri (local court) located in F-8 area in the federal capital, Islamabad.
The incident took place when unidentified armed men targeted a district court in sector F-8 of Islamabad.
The firing caused panic followed by stampede. All the injured have been transferred to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for aid.
Police and rangers has been called to the spot. They have cordoned off the area.
According to eyewitnesses, there were about five to six men attacked the court.
According to police, two blasts took place inside the court premises, one near the chambers of a judge and the other outside an office of an official.
Officers at the scene in the city’s F-8 sector told AFP the incident began when a defendant was brought before the court and his friends tried to break him free.
Another senior-ranking police official said that the incident could be a terror attack but nothing could be said with confirmation as yet.
The hearings of cases, scheduled for the day, were postponed.
