ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan has announced ceasefire in war with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today, following the banned organisation’s decision to do the same.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar announced the decision following a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Leader of government nominated peace committee Irfan Siddiqui and others.
Mr. Irfan Siddiqui said that TTP and govt. nominated committees will meet on Tuesday to resume the dialogue process while telling the media that the military operation against TTP was only a reaction to their terrorist activities.
Mr. Siddiqui also contacted TTP nominated peace talks committee members Maulana Yusuf Shah and Professor Ibrahim and they expressed hope and gratitude for resumption of peace talks.
It must be remembered that Pakistan’s rebellious Taliban rebels announced an unconditional ceasefire yesterday claiming that they took the decision in larger national interest of peace.
