KARACHI: The domestic dispute between husband and wife turned into sorrowful incident when an on-duty Rangers’ official allegedly opened fire on the married couple, killing man and injuring wife at Nagan Chawrangi area of Karachi on Friday.
A married couple fought on the road over domestic dispute; suddenly Rangers’ officials present on the location opened fire on Zeeshan which resulted injuring him as well as his wife, reports said.
According to reports, the man got serious injuries due to bullet shot and he succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
It was a newly wed couple who tied knot since 4 months back, but having deteriorated relationship after the marriage and their divorce case is also registered in the local court, GEO News reported.
The wife has also got injuries due to firing; however, she is under treatment but her identification has not disclosed till yet.
Superintendent Police (SP) New Karachi said that the Rangers’ official have been arrested.
The incident sparked severe protests in the area as the outrageous persons threw stones over the Rangers’ and Police vehicles present at the site.
Protesters expressed their severe anger over the allegedly Rangers attack and demolished two bikes of the law enforcement agency officials.
Rangers’ official statement:
According to Rangers’ spokesperson, some persons diverted attention of Rangers’ official over kidnapping attempt of a woman.
Rangers’ official had initially made aerial firing; however, after continuation of clash between individuals he targeted and injured man, spokesperson added.
He said that investigation is underway to find out more evidences in the incident.
On the other hand, the injured wife stated that his husband was beating her on the road; firstly Rangers’ official tried to stop and then opened fire.
