ISLAMABAD – The corruption cases against former President Asif Ali Zardari were heard today in the Accountability Court Islamabad today and the next hearing has been adjourned till 24 Feb.
In the last hearing, the court permitted Zardari to not appear in court for the hearings of the case filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
NAB counsel presented a detailed response of Zardari’s request for acquittal before Muhammad Bashir, the AC judge.
The counsel’s arguments were that Zardari could not be acquitted as the testimonials are yet to be recorded. And he also claimed to have some solid proofs of corruption against Zardari.
In response, Zardari’s counsel Farooq H. Naik pleaded for Zardari’s acquittal in all five corruption references as there is no concrete evidence available against the former president.
