ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani authorities have once again claimed that the country is near to get the production capacity of 5,789 megawatts electricity via 5 hydel power projects by 2018.
According to WAPDA sources‚ Diamer-Bhasha Dam on River Indus will generate 4500 megawatts electricity and store over eight million acre feet of water to meet growing power and irrigation needs.
Golen Gol Hydropower Project being constructed in Chitral will be completed next year and produce one hundred six megawatts electricity.
The Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project on completion in 2016 would produce nine hundred sixty-nine megawatts electricity. Duber Khwar Hydropower Project located on Khan Khwar River in District Kohistan would produce one hundred thirty megawatts electricity.
Kurram hydropower project having the capacity to produce eighty-four megawatts electricity power and it will be completed within next four years.
